19 December 1943

To an individual believer

Dear Bahá’í Sister:

The Guardian has instructed me to answer your letter dated November 11th.

He feels that, since the National Spiritual Assembly has requested you to remain away from the Bahá’í meetings for a period of a year, you should obey them implicitly. This does not mean spiritual death, nor that you are not a believer in the Faith.

He does not wish you to be sad, but rather to prepare yourself to take your place again in the Bahá’í Community, and work with all the friends in a spirit of love and harmony. Every stumbling-block in this world can be made a stepping-stone to progress and development.

He assures you he will pray for you in the Holy Shrines, and for your husband, and he will also place some candles there in your name.
